An unspoiled paradise surrounded by the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic sea, Pomâlo Inn is where luxury is made comfortable. This intimate boutique is perfectly nestled on the island of Vis – one of the most beautiful and untouched Dalmatian Islands in Croatia, and is quintessentially minimalistic with a boho-chic touch. Featuring lamps reminiscent of old fishing traps once used by the people on the island to hand woven traditional book bags, a vintage 1958 Dr. Pepper Vendo 81 filled with local sodas and works of fine art photography adorning the walls,, authenticity is paramount here. Boasting just ten rooms and suites, each with their own story to tell, Pomâlo Inn is where dreams come true.
Pomâlo's grey Brač stone building dates back to 1810, and still retains a lot of its original charm. Vis town was built by Venetians, but the island has an even longer history, having been inhabited by the Greeks as early as 400 BC. It's a wine growing region, scattered with coastal fishing villages, and was isolated for almost 50 years. Open to the public only since the 1990's, it is the Dalmatia you have dreamt of finding.
Book a boat trip to the nearby islands, and explore the hidden coves and beaches Vis is so well-known for. Fancy a road trip in a vintage Range Rover? Or perhaps a vintage VW Beetle convertible? The Pomâlo team offers a concierge service, with local knowledge, and are fluent in English, as well as Croatian!
From private terraces to a penthouse suite, each of the rooms here has something special. Indulge in bespoke, 300 thread-count sheets with a Dalmatian lace trim, fresh down pillows, organic waffle weave cotton throws, and organic local bath products that smell and feel amazing – just like the island itself!
Whilst the hotel does not currently have an in-house restaurant, Dalmatia’s top speciality coffee shop is housed within the building! Kava provides delicious breakfasts in the mornings, exquisite coffee all day, and cocktails in the hotel’s lounge and plaza at night. There are also an abundance of small family-owned restaurants all within a short stroll away.
The vibe in the hotel lounge is true to its name ("pomâlo" in Dalmatian means "chillax") with cocktails, candlelight, house music, and vintage Yugoslavian films on offer every night. Beach cruiser-style bicycles are available for guests, and the almost zero light pollution makes stargazing one of the most popular activities. There is also an outdoor movie theatre just a short ride from the hotel, with popcorn, sodas, and once-weekly showings of Mamma Mia II (shot on Vis).
