Indulge in the perfect Easter picnic

As of the 29th March, we’re permitted to meet with up to six people or two households outdoors in a park or a private garden. And considering the current state of world affairs at the moment, what better way to connect with your friends or family and enjoy some delicious food and drink than by indulging in a picnic? They’re timeless and traditional yet modern, and at this present moment, one of the safest ways to enjoy company and good grub in the great outdoors. As the temperature is getting warmer and the days are getting longer, an exclusive picnic is a great idea for this Easter weekend!

If you want to make sure this picnic is as fun and safe as possible, make sure you each individually bring your own food and drinks. Gather some tasty home-made sandwiches, deliciously egg-cellent sweet treats you’ve baked at home and of course some Easter-themed DIY decorations you’ve mastered throughout lockdown. Take advantage of the restrictions easing to truly indulge and celebrate this chocolate-filled time with a well-awaited picnic in the sun!

Stroll through bluebells

Enjoy the spring splendour at the Ashridge Estate this Easter weekend. Nestled within the Chiltern Hills of Hertfordshire, discover rolling downlands and lush meadows at this enchanting 5,000 acre National Trust property. This gorgeous location is not only one of our favourite places to walk north of London, but it’s also one of the most popular places in the country to see bluebells. Renowned for its beech woods and oak and lime trees, wherever you wander at Ashridge, the intensity of the bright blue hues emitted by the sea of bluebells will take your breath away.

Although there are many self-led walks you can take throughout the estate, we recommend taking the three-in-one woodland walk, as it is a great route carefully created by the National Trust, stretching nearly five miles long, taking around two hours or so to complete — it’s perfect for an Easter Sunday afternoon stroll! This trail will lead you through some of the most beautiful woodland and parkland, so expect to be enchanted every corner you turn. Uncover some ancient trees nestled within the woodland, discover the Golden Valley, find the Clinmere pond, and if you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of some of the resident wildlife, from muntjacs and fallow deer herds, to nine different species of bat that call Ashridge home. Create the perfect Easter Egg hunt

No Easter weekend is complete without taking part in an iconic Easter egg hunt. They’re easy, simple and a great tradition for friends and family to enjoy every year. Since this year has been the year we’ve had to get a little bit more creative when it comes to entertaining ourselves, how about making the egg hunt a little more challenging? Come up with some new rules to make it easier for the little ones and more challenging for the big kids — making it more competitive and harder to find the eggs! Include clues around the house or garden, have DIY Easter themed crafts suggesting whether you’re hot or cold to the nearest egg, and create tasty prizes for the winners who gather the highest number of eggs!

If you want to take a break from getting creative this year, be sure to find a local easter egg hunt, easter trail or other easter events happening in Greater London and Surrey this 2021! For more information, please click here.
