The five villages here each carry their own distinct charm. Monterosso al Mare is the largest and most relaxed, with sandy beaches and lively waterfront cafés. Vernazza delights with its postcard-perfect harbour and vibrant piazza, often considered the coastline’s crown jewel. High above the sea, Corniglia offers sweeping views and a quieter, more secluded feel. Manarola captivates with its cascade of pastel houses and famously romantic sunsets, while Riomaggiore, the southernmost village, winds upward in a maze of colourful lanes revealing sea views at every turn.

Cinque Terre’s trails offer more than scenic walks — they are journeys through time, from the coastal Sentiero Azzurro, linking the villages along the water, to panoramic hilltop paths that reveal vineyards, olive groves, and the endless Ligurian Sea. The region’s cuisine mirrors its landscape, with fresh seafood, handmade trofie pasta with pesto, focaccia, and citrus desserts, all best enjoyed with local wines like Sciacchetrà.
