Pepoli 9 - Owner's Story

Owner's Stories

The term ‘Home away from home’ takes on a whole new meaning when that home happens to belong to experienced hotelier of 20 years, Alessandra De Lorenzo. A tastefully restored Roman villa, overlooking the Baths of Caracalla, Alessandra’s home, now known as Pepoli 9, is the epitome of Italian Romanticism, elegance and charm.

It was back in 2013 when Alessandra chose to turn her family home into the design guest house that it is today. All of the 6 elegantly appointed guest suites have been named after Alessandra’s friends, with each having been carefully designed to reflect their individual style and personality. A stay at Pepoli 9 is therefore unlike any other, as it grants its visitors an intimate glimpse into Alessandra’s fascinating and oh so stylish, world.

In a city where space is certainly a luxury, Pepoli 9 somehow still succeeds in providing an ambience of calm and serenity within its walls, perched on top of one of Rome’s Seven Hills, and taking in the spectacular sunsets on view every evening. All of the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable and grant guests all the escapism they could ask for before stepping back into the vibrant city below.

Alessandra’s innate creativity is plain to see throughout this achingly chic boutique hotel. Combing Art Deco, Contemporary and Mid Century modern décor, alongside the monochromatic nod to French style in the bathrooms, results in a hotel that is both luxurious and playful all at the same time. And it has been Alessandra’s aim to ensure her guests enjoy a level of pampering and comfort that surpass even the highest of standards, providing premium services that go that extra mile, or five.

They say the devil is in the details, but at Pepoli 9, it’s assuredly a Roman goddess. From scenting each of her suites with their own unique fragrance, to the Lavazza coffee machine that guarantees only the finest brew in every room, Alessandra raises the bar in bringing together all of the magical elements required to impress her very special guests.

Steeped in history and culture, Rome offers a multitude of attractions from the Coliseum, to the Arch of Titus, to the very essence that is Italy, brimming with life and colour at every corner, so it should come as no surprise that our seasoned host has organized very special excursions within this iconic city. If it’s a taste for Italy, however, that is sought, and who wouldn’t – just thinking about Italian fare makes the taste buds tingle; then cookery classes with the promise to reveal secret Italian recipes, are also on offer. But even for those that choose not to step outside the confines of the hotel, all of this history and culture can simply come to you. Alessandra has transformed many of the hotel’s suites and common areas into private galleries, showcasing the exceptional work of talented young and new local artists and artisans.

While there is no restaurant at Pepoli 9, continental breakfast is served daily and an “Honesty Bar” and lounge area are available for guests, offering a delectable array of teas and pastries in the afternoon.

Whatever you may be looking for, you’re sure to find it at Pepoli 9. Alessandra’s home is now your home; elegant, inviting, and just like Rome, simply unforgettable.
